A spouse is equally
entitled to any right of possession of the
other spouse in a matrimonial home.
Spouses may designate, by instrument in
writing executed by both spouses, any
property as their matrimonial home and
following the registration of such a
designation in the registry of deeds for the
registration district in which the property
is located any other property that otherwise
would be a matrimonial home and is not so
designated ceases to be a matrimonial home.
As well as, spouses may, by instrument in
writing executed by both spouses and
registered in the registry of deeds, change
or cancel a designation of matrimonial home.
